Going Nowhere

Going Nowhere

Pen hesitates
Bleeding link
the last movement
stiffens
a freezing (frozen) river

another silent drum roll

thought we would
avoid the drought this year
as you can see
the crops have suffered dearly

perhaps
like fire sneezing dragons
with poorly coloured scales
writers block
is an imaginary predator
attacking fiercely
in thick, arid sand pools
of dehydrated inspiration

perhaps
this (poem) was built
from previously owned parts
and crumbling stone
ending up
a giant road block

not to worry
(unlike the others)
I’m aware we’re going nowhere
Tires melting
Almost out of gas
Out of courtesy, however
I thought I should let you know
